When I first started searching for a location for Haley’s bachelorette party, I knew that it had to be somewhere laid back since I would be twenty six weeks pregnant. Looking back, the Jekyll Ocean Club really was the best choice – and we had a blast, too!
Located on Jekyll Island, the Jekyll Ocean Club is the best luxury beach resort in Georgia, in my opinion. Not only did they have the most relaxing pool, prompt beach service (for chairs and umbrellas), and fantastic restaurants on-site (we did not even go off-site once!), but they also had the kindest staff and the best seafood pizza that you could order poolside. This pregnant lady was in heaven!
We arrived on Jekyll Island pretty early on Friday morning – right around 10am. Our room was not ready yet (check in is not until later in the day and check out is not until noon, which was so incredibly nice!), so we threw on our suits and headed to the beach. It was extremely hot, so the complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas were such a nice touch. Not even two hours into our time on the beach, we received a call from the front desk letting us know that our room was ready, so we grabbed our bags, headed to the room, and then spent the rest of the day by the pool drinking virgin pina coladas and eating seafood pizza (how many times can I mention the seafood pizza in this article?! But really, it was that good).
The room at Jekyll Ocean Club
The rooms at Jekyll Ocean Club are so spacious. We had four girls and split one room and it did not feel cramped at all. The nice thing about our room was the fact that it not only had your basic room with 2 beds and a bathroom, but it also had a wet bar, a small patio that you could sit and watch the ocean waves on, and a living room! It would be perfect for families and next time we visit, we will definitely throw our travel crib in the living room to make it feel like two rooms.
The Dining at Jekyll Ocean Club
That night, we headed to the Jekyll Island Club Resort for dinner at the Grand Dining Room and it was fantastic. I ordered the prix fixe menu which was a fantastic deal! Four courses for only $49, which is unheard of. The entire dinner was fantastic, but a few highlights from what I had was the crab bisque, I loved the white anchovies on the caesar salad, and the molten lava cake had been a craving of mine before I arrived, so I was thrilled to see it on the menu!
Phones were not allowed in the dining room, which I love because it allows you to connect with the people at your table, so I was unable to take pictures of my dinner, but the entire resort was beautiful. We took so many amazing pictures before heading back to the Jekyll Ocean Club.
Later that night, we got back to our resort and almost did s’mores, but we decided to hit the hay and wake up early to take pictures instead. After pictures, we had breakfast at Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar and holy moly – it was fantastic. Honestly, the Grand Dining Room was perfect in every way, but Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar was probably my favorite restaurant just because it was not only so tasty, but also casual and fun.
I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a side of bacon. The chocolate chip pancakes came with a side of whipped cream (my favorite) and it was just amazing. So amazing that I ordered the exact same thing the next morning!
That day, we just hung out at the beach and the pool. I was at the pool most of the time because the water felt amazing and I wanted to order pizza and virgin frozen drinks, but the other girls stayed at the beach most of the time. It was the perfect, most relaxing day!
We finished our trip off with dinner at Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar and once again, it was fantastic. I highly recommend dining there during your stay on Jekyll Island – it will not disappoint.
Overall, our stay exceeded my expectations. Jekyll Ocean Club is perfect in every way and I cannot wait until I get the chance to take Ian and our baby girl back (I hope sooner rather than later). It is only about a five hour drive from Atlanta and 30-45 minutes from my parents on Amelia Island, so it is really convenient for us and for anyone else that lives in the Metro-Atlanta area. I highly recommend checking it out!
