From day 1, we knew that we wanted to have a gender reveal party so that we could find out the gender, so this is the story of Baby Berger’s Gender Reveal! We were convinced that he or she was a boy, but of course, we had no evidence to back that up. In fact, most of the wives tale gender predictors said girl.
For example, I was craving all fruit, I wasn’t gaining weight quickly, and my skin was a disaster. The only wives tale that said boy was the Chinese gender predictor, which is usually the most ‘accurate’ when it comes to all of the wives tales. We also had someone tell us that I was expecting a boy just a couple of weeks before getting pregnant. So, we were 110% on board thinking that it was a boy at this point (and so did most of our family).
In our 12/13 week ultrasound, our tech told us that she thought she knew if it was a boy or a girl. It was still very early, so she told us not to get our hearts set on the gender she thought it might be (if we wanted to know) and since it was not 100% accurate, I just had to know what she was thinking! She said girl, but we were still just not convinced at all. I think this opened our eyes up to thinking that there was a possibility it was a girl, so it just made us even more confused and we were back at square one, just having no idea and we just had to wait for my bloodwork to come back, to officially know.
Once my bloodwork came back, we sent it to Ian’s dad and he was in charge of ordering our gender reveal materials from Poof There It Is! They make it so easybecause you can order your gender reveal cannons and then have someone else email in the gender/color that you want. Plus, they have so many different gender reveal options. Poof There It Is! not only offers powder cannons, but they also have confetti cannons, banners, garlands, shooting target reveals, footballs, soccer balls, golf balls, and more. Check them out for great gender reveal products!
Once Ian’s dad emailed Tori and Jon with our gender/color for our cannons, the items shipped out so quickly and we just had to wait for the day of our reveal…eek! This was definitely the hardest part.
Baby Berger’s Gender Reveal!
The day finally came and we were thrilled – our gender reveal party was a go! My dad came up from Florida and so many of our family and friends came to celebrate! Ian’s parents and sister were kind enough to host the reveal. They filled the house with so many amazing catered dishes, the sweetest decorations, and a lot of our closest family + friends. It was the perfect day, although it was raining off and on.
Thankfully, the rain held off a bit and we got a chance to do our cannons from Poof There It Is! We were so excited, but I was so insanely overwhelmed at the same time. We took our cannons outside, got everyone set up, and started the show!
I messed up the first and the second shot — I could not get my gender reveal cannon to go off! It is a bit of a blur because I was so in the moment, but I just remember trying to twist it and it would not budge. Ian’s had already gone off and I realized that I could look at his to see what the gender of our baby was. I finally looked up and found out that we are having a baby girl!!!!!! Eeeeek!
Ian helped me twist the cannon and we shot off mine together! Then, we tried it again and the same thing happened. I guess I just wasn’t prepared for the twist, hahah! And finally, the third time was a charm — we both set off our cannons at the same time.
The best shot(s), however, is when everyone went behind and off to the side of us and shot the cannons behind us. Literally perfect shot and I am sure it had a little something to do with our amazing photographer! 😉
WE ARE HAVING A BABY GIRL AND WE COULD NOT BE MORE THRILLED ABOUT IT!
Thank you so much to Mary Catherine Echols Photography for taking these shots for us and to Poof There It Is! for sending us complimentary cannons and decorations for our gender reveal party. It was the perfect day!
