The other month, I read an article stating that bees are dying at an alarming rate. At first, I didn’t really care much because I’m allergic to some bees, but I kept reading on, and it mentioned that bees are critical pollinators: they are responsible for seventy percent of the produce that we consume every day. This means that if bees were to go extinct, our diets would suffer tremendously. I think it is so interesting – my mindset went from not liking bees at all to wanting to protect them, so when I was given the opportunity to review the book, The Bee-Friendly Garden, I was extremely excited!
The book is divided into six chapters to make for easier reading: Our Friends, the Bees, Plants for Your Bee-Friendly Garden, Bee-Friendly Plants for Edible Gardens, Bee Garden Basics, Designing Your Bee Garden, and Beyond Your Backyard – Becoming a Bee Activist. Because of the layout, it is easy to read, and also illustrated with gorgeous pictures throughout of bees, and different types of flowers and plants. It would be a gorgeous book to place on your coffee table!
