Our Favorite Baby Products

There are so many baby items out there! If you are a new mom, you are probably stressed out and really confused about what to buy and what to skip over. That’s why today, I wanted to share with you a few of our favorite baby products. I hope that this list helps you – especially since I am trying to directly link each one (or at least most), so it’s as easy as click, click, buy! Here are some of our favorites:

Bath

We have quite a few hooded baby towels, but this one from Amazon is THE winner. It’s so soft, cute, and it’s 100% cotton, which was really important for us.

When it comes to a bath support, this one was AMAZING for Avery up until she could sit without any support. We actually just stopped using this a few days ago, so you should get at least (maybe even more) six months use out of it and it’s inexpensive!

Other bath items that you might want to use: Skip Hop bath cup (or just use a plastic cup), The Honest Company lavender bath soap (these do NOT have synthetic fragrances — woohoo!), this bamboo towel is another favorite, and this brush.

Sherpa Baby Footies

Another Amazon winner! These are so soft, easy to slip on, and they are the only ‘shoes’ that don’t fall off of Avery very easily. We put them on her all the time, especially in cooler weather.

Car Seats

Okay, so we currently have the Graco Extend2Fit car seat and Avery LOVES it. This IS a convertible car seat, but you can use it from birth, which we have. I will say, however, that I didn’t really do my research on toxins while making my registry and this car seat DOES have flame retardants on it (look this up!). So, if you want a car seat that does not use flame retardants, I highly recommend looking into the Uppababy Henry (infant seat), the Uppababy Jordan (infant seat), The Nuna Pipa Lite (through Nordstrom), The Britax B-Safe with SafeWash fabric (infant seat), Clek Foonf (Mammoth — Flame retardant-free), which is a convertible seat, Britax Advocate in Safewash, the Nuna Rava (just not in Verona), or the upcoming Uppababy Knox! We are going to need to purchase a second convertible car seat and we are going to go with one of these and eventually replace the one that we have in my car, as well.

To go with the car seat, we love this mirror and this seat protector (two pack).

Miss Fong Diaper Bag

I really wanted a backpack diaper bag and I loved the looks of so many, but I didn’t really understand why I would want to spend tons of $ on them… Maybe I’ll feel differently eventually?! The look and price tag of this Miss Fong Diaper Bag was the perfect fit for us and we love using it.

Diaper Solutions

Here are some of our favorites! This mat is great so that you don’t have to do a ton of extra laundry (you can just wipe it down!), we LOVE these diapers and wipes because they are eco-friendly and non-toxic (do your research — there are a lot of chemicals in diapers and wipes), and this diaper pail is a winner. You’re able to use your own trash bags, which saves money over time, and it locks in the smell nicely. Oh, and this diaper rash salve is great and non-toxic! You can also use 100% cotton dry wipes, which we are trying out now. All you have to do is wet them and go (you can take a branch basics travel spray bottle to help!).

The Best Bottles

Okay, these bottles are AMAZING. Anti-colic and not plastic, which was important to us. Don’t forget to also grab extra nipples (newborn or older — confirm which come with the order you’re placing), breast milk storage bags, nursing pads, and non-toxic nipple cream. They also have the same Comotomo bottles in a bigger size, which we love, as well. But, the best breastfeeding item of all? The haakaa! Grab it!

Swing

This swing was AMAZING during months 0-3. She would either take her naps in here, or in her carrier (more on this in a bit). Highly recommend! If you want something else in addition to the swing, I also recommend this vibrating chair. It was a complete life saver for us and Avery still loves to pull up on it and occasionally sit in it!

Mattress

If there is anything you want to be specific with, it’s the mattress that your baby will be sleeping on. We chose this Bundle of Dreams crib mattress because it is non-toxic (SUPER important with a crib mattress), breathable, and has one firm side for infants and a softer side for toddlers. Babies spend a large amount of time sleeping in their crib, so if there’s ONE swap to make to a non-toxic lifestyle, please please please consider switching out your crib mattress + sheets (choose an organic cotton sheet option!).

Carriers/wraps

For carriers/wraps, we LOVE our Solly wraps (the boba is similar if you want to shop only on Amazon) for the newborn stage. I haven’t tried it on Avery in a while (she is almost 7 months now) just because she is a ninja, but I am going to try it again soon because I love, love, love them. Right now, we are using the Ergobaby Embrace and it has been insanely helpful! Also, I just borrowed the Tula Baby from my chiropractor and I love wearing her on my back! I also really want to try the Sukura Bloom carriers.

The SNOO

This is a pricy baby item, I know… BUT, it’s worth it (for us at least). Avery was sleeping through the night by 1 month old. Insane, right? I highly, highly recommend. It is the only guaranteed way to keep baby on their back up until 6 months which reduces the chance of suffocation too, which I loved!

Night Light

I got these as night lights because they came with two, so I placed one in Avery’s room and one in the hallway. They are AMIR air purifying salt lamps (made out of himalayan salt) and they give off the prettiest glow. I also have this bigger one by my bed and used it a ton when Avery was really little and it is amazing!

The Best Nail Trimmer

Gone are the days when you have to worry about cutting those tiny baby fingers. Instead of stressing out, use this Fansidi baby nail file instead. You can even use it for yourself. It’s really nifty, easy to use, and pain-free. One of my favorite baby products, for sure!

Paci’s and Paci Clips

We love Ryan and Rose paci’s and Bib’s Naturals because they are non-toxic and safe to use. One great thing about Ryan and Rose is that they turn into teethers after your baby has gone through the paci stage. One thing I will say is that Avery never went through a huge paci stage AND babies definitely have their own preferences, so maybe grab a few different types of paci’s. For paci clips, really anything works, but you want to make sure that the clip is not toxic. We love these clips and we also have fabric clips that we love too.

Small Essentials (Medicine, sunscreen, etc.)

I’ll be honest – I’ve only given Avery tylenol once and I watched her like a hawk that entire night. And it was a ROUGH. NIGHT. I do not like to give meds when I do not have to, but it never hurts to have it in your medicine cabinet, just in case. A few essentials that we got were Thinkbaby sunscreen, badger active sunscreen, infant tylenol, dye-free infant motrin, mylicon (gas relief), gripe water, the nose frida (these *might* have fragrance in them — double check this first. We haven’t used one in forever because I never got around to checking), and a good probiotic. We started Avery on these probiotics because they are highly rated for spitting up, but then we switched to Klaire Labs. Please consult your doctor before giving your baby anything at all! This is NOT medical advice – it is just what we stocked up with. For teething, we LOVE camilia. We also used Hyland’s teething tablets, but we are not currently using them because their night-time version caused seizures in babies and I just don’t think that I trust the original now…

Teething

So, make sure to stock up on the Camilia (linked right above this paragraph) – it works WONDERS, but also make sure you have a baltic amber necklace. These also really help fight pain naturally and they are cute, too 😉 Here are a few other things that we love for teething (click images to shop):

Lovevery Play Gym and Kits

Lovevery is one of our FAVORITE brands! The play gym is amazing and super high-quality and we also get their play kits, which Avery loves! Some of her favorite toys have come from these and they are all really well made + non-toxic. I linked the play gym above, but you can find their play kits (subscription-based) on their website.

Guava Family (Pack n’ Play/Travel Crib)

Okay, if you are looking for a pack n’ play and/or a travel crib, you HAVE to get a guava family lotus. It’s non-toxic and organic (win!!!) and it has so many uses. We love this thing! We also shopped on their website to get accessories (such as a sun shade so that we can take it to the beach with us!!!). For sleeping, you can also put a slumberpod over it, although, we have never needed to use one.

Outdoor Swing

This little tikes swing is the one we purchased and it is great – Avery loves it, and she has plenty of room to grow into it!

Food Stuff

We ended up getting the Tripp Trapp for a high chair! I researched a ton and you NEED a foot support when it comes to a high chair. I was set on getting the cheap IKEA high chair for the longest time, but I read tons of information and research done by speech language pathologists and other therapists (OT’s, etc.), and they all say that a footrest is very important. I also wanted something as non-toxic as possible and something that would grow with Avery so that I wasn’t just wasting money. That’s why I ended up going with the Tripp Trapp. Ours is in white! Make sure the one you purchase (if going with a Tripp Trapp) includes the baby set.

Other food-related items: we don’t feel like we need plates just yet – we just put the food directly on her tray or on a table, but we did get this tiny cup (recommended by an OT) so that she can learn how to drink properly. We also got this pura kiki stainless steel bottle. Non-toxic and great for travel! Plus, their lids/nipples can interchange letting the bottle grow with Avery – from infancy to adulthood. These glass jars are great for storing baby food (and/or milk) in the fridge or freezer.

Mama’s Favorites

Target has THE best loungewear sets by Stars Above. Highly, highly recommend – they are amazing for postpartum and really everything in between, too. For PP bleeding, these pads are the best!! These bras are my FAVORITE nursing bras ever. I have three packs of them! And, these nursing tanks are also a winner. The best – seriously! I purchased many different nursing options from Amazon and they were all subpar compared to Target’s Auden brand. I alsoooo have this pumping bra and it’s fine…I just don’t really use it. All of my other postpartum essentials came from the hospital. Seriously, don’t spend money on things like ice packs, tucks, numbing spray, gowns (for the hospital). They will provide it all! The only time I wore my own clothes at the hospital was during labor (I had a sports bra and a pair of shorts + flip flops on under my hospital gown so that I could walk and lunge up the stairs) and when I was leaving the hospital. Don’t get your own clothes dirty – you don’t need to!
