Most of us haven’t traveled much over the past six months, which is so unfortunate, but hospitality brands, restaurants, and cities need our support right now, so if you have the vacation time built up, I urge you to find a way to use it – while staying in your comfort zone. That is why today, I wanted to write this post about how to continue social distancing while traveling. I hope these ideas help you a lot so that you can begin traveling again and feel comfortable doing so.

How to continue social distancing while traveling

Take time planning your destination
Take time planning your trip and choose your location wisely. Here are a few ways that you can vacation safely:
Take a road trip
Keep in mind: you do not have to fly if you are not comfortable with it! Take a road trip if that is better for you! Do keep in mind that you will have to stop for bathroom breaks, gas, and food, too (unless you pack your own meals and snacks). So, will a road trip limit your interaction with others? Maybe. But, it depends on the specific person. If you are stopping a lot – it might increase your exposure. One reason that I love road trips is because you can enjoy stops along the way at your own pace. You can relax and spend time enjoy the sights along the way!
Camp and hike
Instead of a vacation that involves other people in places such as hotels, restaurants, etc., enjoy an outdoor destination that will include things such as hiking, camping, grilling outside, etc. The fall is the perfect time to do this! By staying outdoors in your own tents, it limits your exposure pretty completely. You can bring food to cook at the campsite and enjoy spending more time outdoors (which you probably do not do enough!). You can even camp inside of some national parks or try exploring off-the-beaten-path sites and area less frequented by tourists.
Go To The Beach
We took a beach trip and it was great! We came into contact with very few people, ordered all of our food in, and just relaxed!
Off the grid farms
You can rent a farmhouse with a great field view, lots of land, maybe some animals, and just relax. Want to take it to another extreme? Go off the grid! Pick a location without phone reception and enjoy the screen-free time. Not only is this a great way to travel without being around a lot of people, but the lack of service will make you spend quality time with the ones you love.
Find a city with safety precautions
Find a city, such as Greenville, SC, with safety precautions in place. I was really impressed with the safety measures that Greenville was taking to help ensure the safety of locals, business owners, and travelers.
A lot of cities are putting rules in place to keep everyone safe, so find a city, look up their safety measures, and come up with a plan to keep yourself safe!

What can you do to stay safe while traveling?
There are a lot of things that you can do in order to stay safe. Here are a few of those ways:
Wear a mask
Out in public? Wear a mask in order to keep others – especially business owners, employees, and high-risk individuals – safe.

Wash your hands whenever possible
Prioritize washing your hands over using sanitizer whenever possible.
Keep your immune system boosted
In my opinion, we should be focusing more on boosting our immune systems vs. sanitizing everything. Continue with your healthy eating, drinking enough water, and taking your supplements.
Bring hand sanitizer
But, do keep in mind that not all hand sanitizer is created equal. Choose a clean hand sanitizer because a lot of sanitizers contain harmful chemicals that have the potential to harm your immune system. I love primally pure sanitizer!
Don’t be irresponsible
When it comes down to it, you are in charge of your own person, but please – be responsible! Do not be the reason why COVID is continuing to spread like wildfire. Be responsible, aware of your surroundings, and smart about how you travel.
So, if you are wondering how to continue social distancing while traveling, there are many answers to your question. These are not all of the answers – not even close – but, I do think that some of these tips can help you if you want to travel now!
Eat Outdoors, When Possible
There are so many opportunities to eat outside right now, so take advantage of that whenever you possibly can.
