Ancient elms and lush landscape greet you as you pull up to Cottage Grove Inn. Tucked away in downtown Calistoga, you would never know that you were in a town. Instead, it feels as if you are vacationing in a romantic, secluded forest. Checking in to Cottage Grove Inn is a treat in itself. The staff is amazing – you can really tell that they go above and beyond for their guests. After checking in, we made our way to our romantic cottage and fell in love.
Our Cottage
Chirping birds, crackling firewood, and flowing fountains are three of the sounds that I heard from our private cottage. Every cottage has its own parking space, a private porch with the cutest rocking chairs, a plush king-sized bed, a wood burning fireplace, a jacuzzi tub for two, and the most comfortable robes. There were small touches throughout the cottage and property, such as picnic baskets and blankets, sleep masks, complimentary postcards (and stamps!), dog treats, L’Occitane amenities, and even bicycles. We had a bottle of champagne from Mumm and a spa basket waiting for us as we entered the room. This was such a sweet touch! On their website, you can add specials and packages to make your stay that much sweeter.

Every morning, Cottage Grove Inn offers a complimentary breakfast with all of the bells and whistles. Breakfast burritos, fruit smoothies, waffles, local granola, fresh fruit, specialty coffee drinks, and more are offered for your choosing. In the evenings, you have the chance to join them for an afternoon wine service, which includes Calistoga AVA wines, cheese, fruit, and a few other mid-evening snacks. They also offer flavored water throughout the day, which I loved. That is one thing that most people do not consider – when staying at most hotels, you have to purchase water or drink out of the sink. It is so nice when there is complimentary water, especially when you are staying in Napa Valley and are drinking a lot of wine.
Each morning as I rolled over in bed during our stay, I thought about how lucky I was to have the opportunity to experience such perfection. I honestly do not think there is a better place to stay in all of Calistoga, and the general Napa Valley area. The way the staff goes above and beyond for their guests makes for a relaxing, luxurious experience and honestly, you cannot find a more charming and relaxing place to stay. Before we left, I was already planning another trip back. Cottage Grove Inn truly is a small slice of heaven and I can only hope that we will be back sooner rather than later.
