The Hofsas House in Carmel-by-the-Sea
A gorgeous pink building surrounded by flowers is the first thing you notice when you pull up to The Hofsas House in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Showing off its European vibes, The Hofsas House Hotel is a boutique, family-owned inn in downtown Carmel, California. It is situated only three blocks from Ocean Avenue, which is the ‘main’ street in downtown Carmel-By-The-Sea, according to locals. Because of this, The Hofsas House is extremely convenient. In fact, we walked everywhere and only hopped in the car one time during our entire stay.
The outside of the inn is adorable like previously mentioned. There are flowers everywhere and one of the first things that you will notice is the mural, right by the entrance. This mural was painted in 1957 and was meant to offer a welcome from the family to guests. The Hofsas House has a heated outdoor pool, as well as saunas, for your use. They also offer a complimentary continental breakfast with pastries from a local bakery, cozy robes, bath products that smell like green tea (yum!), and free wifi access, which is always a bonus!
The rooms are extremely spacious – we had a kitchen, a large bathroom, and a very large bedroom. There was more than enough space for both Ian and myself, and we had a lot of luggage with us. It was a really large space, but cozy at the same time. We did not have AC, but we just opened up the windows and it was the perfect temperature. I can imagine how perfect it would be in the winter, especially with the fireplace in the room – so romantic!
Unlike many cities, Carmel-by-the-Sea does not have a lot of commercial hotels. Instead, most of the places are small, family-owned inns, just like The Hofsas House. I personally love this about Carmel. It gives it a more ‘homey’ feel, in my opinion. Casual elegance, personal service, and traditional family hospitality are what you get when staying at The Hofsas House. It really is just like staying with family, which makes it cozy and comfortable!
The Hofsas House in Carmel-By-The-Sea is the perfect place to stay if you are spending a cozy weekend in Carmel, no matter what your plans are. Walk to dinner, hop around from tasting room to tasting room, or enjoy the beach during your stay, and you are good to go.
If you are foodies staying at The Hofsas House in Carmel-by-the-Sea, I definitely recommend checking out La Bicyclette, Cantinetta Luca (my favorite restaurant in Carmel!), and Il Fornaio (I have not tried the one in Carmel, but the restaurant in San Francisco is good!). No worries, though. I will post all of my recommendations in my Carmel-by-the-Sea travel guide, which should be up within the next few weeks.
Thank you so much to The Hofsas House and Visit Carmel for hosting us during our stay. As always, all opinions are my own. I appreciate all of my readers supporting brands that work with The Berger Bungalow!
